Telecommunications leader Telia’s sustainability performance in 2024 ranks in the top 1% of 130,000 global companies assessed by EcoVadis, a provider of business sustainability ratings. As a result, Telia has been awarded an EcoVadis Platinum Medal for the third consecutive year.
EcoVadis evaluates 21 sustainability criteria across four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
For 2024, Telia achieved a combined score of 87/100, up from an already high 83/100 the year before. The increase is mainly due to strong results in the environment and ethics categories.
For environment, EcoVadis highlights the company’s use of renewable energy – across all markets, the networks are 100% powered by fossil free sources – along with innovative services that help consumers extend the lifetime of its mobile devices.
In the ethics category, the company’s strengths include corruption risk assessments, training and processes to support information security, and the provision of whistleblower mechanisms.
Anna Augustson, head of sustainability, said: ‘Our position at the centre of digitalisation gives us a fantastic platform to create positive impacts. Telia’s ambitious goals include achieving net zero emissions by 2040 and reaching 2.2 million people with digital inclusion initiatives by 2026. This outstanding ranking from EcoVadis shows our progress, while inspiring us to do even more.’
Telia’s Annual Report 2024, which will provide a comprehensive update on the company’s sustainability strategy, goals and progress, will be published on March 19, 2025.
