Businesses must take an automated approach to environmental and sustainability reporting in 2025, says mpro5

New CSRD rules came into effect in 2024, piling on the heat for companies with over 500 employees, with the first reports set to be issued in 2025. The deadline for nations to transpose the CSRD into national law was in July, yet 17 states have yet to provide an update on their progress. This includes Belgium, Czechia, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Finland.

European businesses must be prepared to provide accurate environmental and sustainability reporting in 2025, but many host outdated legacy systems. According to mpro5, businesses can achieve efficient and precise environmental reporting with the correct automated digital platform.

‘Advanced automated process management solutions empower businesses to monitor, analyse, and optimise resource consumption to allow for easy reporting,’ said Phil Meyers, CEO of mpro5. ‘By leveraging IoT enabled sensors and smart building systems, businesses get real time insights into energy use, water consumption, air quality, footfall and site use, and other critical environmental factors. This data enables businesses to identify areas for improvement, track progress towards sustainability goals, and make informed decisions to optimise resource efficiency, which are outlined clearly in reports.’

Accurate real time reporting through automated process management platforms improves the reputation of businesses and will ensure they remain compliant with CSRD rules. In today's socially conscious world, customers, employees, and stakeholders increasingly prioritise sustainability when choosing partners and providers. By showcasing a commitment to sustainable practices with consistent environmental reporting, businesses will attract environmentally conscious clientele, improve employee satisfaction, and strengthen their brand image.

Phil continued, ‘With the CSRD rules taking effect in 2024, compliance and regulatory environmental reporting is vital and process management platforms streamline reporting processes, helping to manage permits and generate real-time reports, reducing the risk of penalties and ensuring smooth operations. Businesses must utilise such platforms to track their sustainability performance for a better environmental impact. Such software streamlines sustainability performance monitoring, enabling businesses to track progress and identify improvement opportunities through real time reporting and dynamic dashboards.’

‘In 2025, businesses must prioritise implementing the correct solutions to allow for the accurate and efficient reporting of their environmental output. Process management platforms provide businesses with real time access to environmental data through IoT sensors and dynamic dashboards, allowing professionals to monitor performance, identify issues, automate solutions and provide accurate reports. Business leaders do not have the time to rely on outdated solutions for environmental and health safety reporting and must evolve if they are to comply with the CSRD rules,’ he concluded.
